As our children are growing up with intense stressors and pressures, they are also experiencing higher levels of anxiety, depression, frustration and confusion. School is often the environment in which these feelings are expressed, sometimes through unhealthy choices or risky behaviors. This leaves educators struggling with ways to balance the educational and emotional needs of their students.
One of the special things about our practice is our case management program. Unlike many other professional practices we have a clinical specialist/case manager who is available to communicate between therapists, the school (teachers, guidance counselors, school psychologists, and principals), the student, the parents, the Gestalt clinical team and other treatment providers to ensure collaboration and intervention advocacy on things that affect the child's life. Our case manager creates a community team that works together in support of the client. Our case manager is capable of doing child observations in the classroom and other unique and special services that augment and help the Gestalt Associates team be more successful. This adds a special dimension to our effectiveness.
Many of our case managers have been trained in the Gestalt Institute of Central Ohio so not only have they had serious training in Gestalt therapy but they also participate as an equal member of our team. They are fully engaged in all clinical endeavors and therefore really provide an integrative service to our families, children, and organizations that we serve in the community. Because it is important to understand the academic needs as well as the psychosocial needs of every child, we are committed to working with schools to provide support, communication, intervention and collaboration to offer the most comprehensive treatment possible.
In working together, we can treat the whole child providing them an opportunity to be more successful, not only academically — but in life!
